Ways to prevent asthma attacks
There are many things you can do to ward off asthma attacks. For example:
Observe what makes you sick-then avoid it. Suppose you wheeze every time you visit your neighbor and her 14 cats. Presumably it’s the cats (and not the neighbor) that are causing your problems. Instead of going to her house, let her visit you.
Create an allergen-free environment. Wash the bed linen in hot water at least once a week to eliminate dust mites. Vacuum your carpets thoroughly and often.
Time your outings. Airborne pollen typically takes flight between 5:00 and 10:00 A.M. If you often have morning attacks consider staying inside during this high-risk time.
Sip hot soup. Drinking warm liquids can relax the bronchial tubes inside your lungs.
Avoid dehydration. Drinking four to six glasses of water a day may thin mucus in your lungs, which will help keep air flowing.
Keep your lungs warm. Try staying inside on cold days. Or, if you do venture out, cover your nose and mouth with a scarf to warm incoming air.
Stay calm. Stress doesn’t cause asthma, but it can make it worse. Ask your doctor about biofeedback, self-hypnosis and other relaxation techniques.
Having an asthma is horrible. I can’t even enjoy outdoor fun. I am so stuck in the four corners of my house whenever my asthma hit me! Thanks the useful post. It’ll be a big help
