When dizziness needs a doctor’s attention
Dizziness usually isn’t serious – whether you have the “room is spinning” variety, called vertigo, or that “woozy, floating, about to faint” feeling. But sit up and take notice if it happens a lot or you aren’t sure why it occurs.
And if your dizziness accompanies the groups of symptoms below, you may need medical help for one of these more critical conditions.
Heatstroke or heat exhaustion
-
Faintness and weakness
-
Muscle cramps
-
Rapid or extremely slow heartbeat
If these symptoms follow exposure to hot weather, this is an emergency. Get help quickly.
Carbon monoxide poisoning
-
Faintness
-
Recurring headache
-
Nausea and vomiting
-
Breathing problems
This poisoning may come from exposure to fumes from automobiles, heating systems, or industrial sources.
Concussion
-
Headache
-
Confusion
-
Blurred vision
-
Vomiting
If these symptoms follow a loss of consciousness from a head injury, they’re signs of the most severe form of concussion. Get medical help promptly.
Brain tumor
-
Nausea or vomiting
-
Loss of vision or visual disturbances
-
Seizures
-
Severe headache
This is a serious condition, so don’t delay in getting a checkup.
Atrial fibrillation
-
Faintness and weakness
-
Breathing difficulty
-
Tiredness
-
Irregular heartbeat that feels like a fluttering in your chest
Although this type of irregular heartbeat may resolve itself, it shouldn’t go untreated.
Bradycardia
-
Extremely slow heartbeat (60 or fewer beats per minute)
-
Sudden weakness or fatigue
Bradycardia could be caused by an underlying disease or a heart medicine, such as a beta-blocker.
Transient ischemic attack (TIA)
-
Headache
-
Blurred vision or double vision
-
Weakness in your arms or legs
-
Slurred speech
This is a temporary brain disturbance but may also signify a mild stroke.
Cervical spondylosis
-
Stiff neck
-
Pain in your neck that extends to your shoulders and arms
-
Weakness and loss of sensation in your fingers, hands, and arms
This condition occurs when arthritis or bone deterioration causes pressure on the nerves in your neck.
Labyrinthitis or Meniere’s disease
-
Ear noise and hearing loss
-
Uncontrolled eye movement
-
Nausea and vomiting
These diseases are serious disorders of the inner ear.
You should also see your doctor if, in addition to dizziness, you have chest pain, pass black stools or have other signs of blood loss, are taking high blood pressure medicine, or have just started taking any new medication
Try these home remedies to get rid of acne: (They are fast and cheap):
•Wash the face twice daily with a tea of calendula officinalis,
•Mix 1 teaspoon lemon juice with 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder. Apply this paste on the pimples and wash it after 20 minutes with warm water. Repeat for two weeks,
•Use aloe vera juice on the pimples morning and night for as long as necessary (perhaps five months or longer).
•Make orange peel paste by grinding it in some water. Apply on and around pimples.
Recommendations:
•Clean gently the skin once or twice daily with an antiseptic soap or a soap compounded of sulfur. This reduces the germ count and prevents the bacterial colonization in deeper pores.
•Eat a healthy, well-balanced diet. The oats and wheat bran, beans, fruits and vegetables should be increased in the diet.
