Conjunctivitis, also known as "pinkeye, redeye or soreeyes", is an inflammation or redness of the white part of the eye and the
underside of the eyelid (conjunctiva).

It is a common form of eye problem because theconjunctivae are exposed to microorganisms and environmental agents that can
cause infections or
allergic reactions.At first, the eyes become dry, red, and burning.Later, there may be a watery secretion and pus formation. Due to this material,
the eye-lashes stick together during sleep.
Conjunctivitis can affect one or both eyes and can be
acute or chronic depending upon how long it lasts, the severity of symptoms,
and the type of organism or agent involved

Conjunctivitis may be caused by:

Viral infection (cold, acute respiratory infection, or
disease such as measles, herpes simplex or zoster)
