When heart pumps the blood into the large arteries, creates a pressure called blood pressure which is essential to keep the blood circulating in the body. However, when the pressure becomes too high, it results in hypertension.

 

The persons with hypertension have a higher risk for heart attack, arteriosclerosis, blindness, stroke and kidney damage

Blood pressure when the heart beats is called systolicpressure and when the heart is at rest is called diastolic pressure.

When bloodpressure is measured (with the instrument called sphygmomanometer in millimeters of mercury), the systolic pressure is stated first and the diastolic pressure second.

The blood pressure level considered normal is between 120/70 and 140 /90. Blood pressure between 140/90 and 160/95 is in border line area. From 160/96 to 180/114, it is considered as moderate hypertension, while 180/115 and upward is severe.

Causes of hypertension are:

  • Use of oral contraceptives
  • Heavy alcohol consumption

Symptoms of high blood pressure are:

  • Pain toward the back of the head and neck

  • Nervous tension and fatigue

Home remedy # 1 Mix a cup of green tea with blanched corncob hairs.Drink it daily.

Home remedy # 2 Cut one cucumber, one carrot, two small tomatoes,onion and clove of garlic, and squeeze fresh lemon juice over this salad,   Eat once a day.

Home remedy # 3 Eat 3 fresh garlic cloves every day.

Home remedy # 4 Boil parsley, cool and drink 2-3 times a day.

Get regular exercise such as walking, bicycling, swimmingand jogging

Reduce salt and fat intake

Eat fruits such as oranges, apples, pears, mangoes, guava, pineapples, and watermelon and raw vegetables like cucumber, radish andcabbage.

Avoid bananas and jack fruit.
