                                     Warts

 

Definition

Warts, also called verrucae, refer to hard benign growths on the skin.  It is usually caused by a viral infection (papilloma) of the skin or mucous membrane.

 

Warts are contagious and are capable of spreading from one area of the body to another on the same person. It can also pass fromperson to person, directly and indirectly

The main categories of warts are warts (face and hands), plantar warts (feet), and venereal warts.Hand warts can grow anywhere on the hands, but usually occur where skin has been damaged (picking or nail biting).Foot warts, also known as plantar warts are usually contractedin locker rooms and swimming pool areas. They are the most painful due to the pres­sure exerted on them.

Venereal warts, also called genital warts, are more contagious than other types of warts. In women, genital warts appear usually within the vagina, on the cervix, and around the anus. In men, genital warts usually appear on the penis, on the scrotum or around the anus.   It can also develop in the mouth of a person and, less often, between the toes.

 

Causes & Symptoms

Warts are caused by:

  • Virus
  • Trauma (burns, cuts or abrasions)

 

Symptoms of warts:

  • Rough, irregular skin
  • Colored or brownish skin

 

Nature Medicine and Home Remedies for Warts

Apply castor oil daily over the warts.

Cut onions and rub on the warts.

Coat the area with camphor oil daily.

Apply a drop of grape fruit extract several times aday and cover it with some bandage.

Rub a piece of chalk or raw potato on the areafrequently

Apply apple juice of a sour apple over the affectedarea.

Apply cidervinegar with cotton balls and leave till it gets dry.

Rub fresh bananaskin immediately after opening and left overnight over the warts.

Rub a raw clove of garlic on the wart every night

Soak a cotton wool in the fresh juice of a pineappleand then apply over the warts.

Apply the white liquid of a rubber plant to the wartover a period of two to three days.

Massage your wart with two teaspoons of castor oil for about 5 minutes.

 

Folk Medicine

Rub a bean on the wart and throwing it away.

Wear footwear in public places and keep clean and dryfeet to avoid foot warts,

 

Never pick warts

 

Use condoms and avoid unprotected sexual contact inorder to prevent genital warts.
